Normatec Compression Therapy

Cutting-edge recovery system that helps athletes recover and rehabilitate between training sessions or following competitive events. The sequential compression massage is great for people that stand on their feet all day and need to flush the lactic acid build up that causes inflammation and swelling in the ankles and legs.

Normatec Compression Therapy

NormaTec Compression Therapy is a cutting-edge recovery system that helps athletes recover and rehabilitate between training sessions or following competitive events. The NormaTec PULSE Recovery System consists of a compression device that surrounds your arms, legs, or hips. These compression units then utilize compressed air to massage your limbs, leading to mobilized fluid and faster recovery and recuperation following intense exertion. Instead of simply squeezing the limb using static compression, this innovative technology utilizes pulsing, similar to what you would experience in a manual massage. The pulsing alternates between different zones while other areas hold, improving the movement of fluid out of the limbs.

The completely digital system allows for customized, straightforward control of your recovery compression therapy experience. The design of the system molds to your exact body shape when you first turn it on during a pre-inflate cycle. That allows it to provide a snug, custom compression therapy massage just for you.

Who Can Benefit from Normatec

Our Piedmont Wellness Club members can sit back, relax and enjoy the benefits of NormaTec Compression Therapy that is most well-known among athletes for its superior rehabilitation capacity leading to a fast recovery and improved performance. But that doesn’t mean it’s only for athletes. Putting your health first is always beneficial. There is nothing vain or selfish about wanting to care for yourself in the best way possible – and compression therapy can help with that.

Anyone who deals with poor circulation or who is standing on their feet all day at work can benefit from NormaTec Compression Therapy. Retail sales, construction workers, nurses, hairdressers, and doctors who are on their feet most of the day often have poor circulation and can deal with chronic pain as a result. People with diabetes, varicose veins, and other poor circulation conditions can also develop pain in their muscles. Compression therapy offers a solution for improving circulation and providing pain relief.

The Benefits of Compression Therapy

Compression therapy is an extremely effective recovery method following intense workouts, helping reduce soreness and enhance flexibility and range of motion. It works by improving the movement of lymphatic fluids out of your muscles, sending blood flow back into the area to remove waste products and reduce inflammation. While many athletes have long used compression shorts or compression socks for a similar effect, NormaTec provides an enhanced compression therapy experience. Some of the benefits include:

Sequential Pulse Technology

The most important element for compression is the massage pattern. Instead of using “static” compression to “squeeze” fluid out of the limb. NormaTec uses the “NormaTec Pulse Massage Technology”, also referred to as “pulsing”. This pulsing action more effectively mimics the muscle pump of the legs or arms, greatly enhancing the movement of fluid from the limbs after an intense workout. This technology is patented, putting NormaTec way ahead of the technology curve.

Lymphatic vessels and veins have one way valves that prevent fluid back flow. Similarly, the NormaTec system uses hold pressures to keep the fluid from moving in the wrong direction.

The NormaTec Pulse Massage Pattern pulses and releases the hold pressures to prevent fluid back flow, working in partnership with the bodies natural circulatory flow. Each portion of the limb gets maximal rest time without needing a large pause between rest cycles.

NormaTec has a patented massage pattern that is believed to be the most effective way to mobilize fluid in and out of the limbs, which is what creates that “fresh legs” feeling after taking the boots off.

Enhance your Athletic Performance

Athletes of all disciplines have been suiting up in puffy, intergalactic-looking contraptions to reap the benefits of compression therapy. Long before these suits existed, athletes have worn (and still wear) compression garments during and after exercise.

The benefits of this recovery method, which are essentially the benefits of improved blood flow, include:
